TuCaN course ID/name: 18-dt-2010-ko Industriekolloquium Informationstechnik
The industrial colloquium is a conjoint course by TU Darmstadt's Institute of Computer Engineering. In the upcoming summer semester 2011 (SS 2011), the industrial colloquium will be organized by our institute, Multimedia Communications Lab (KOM).
The colloquium will cover various aspects of Cloud Computing, which is currently one of the "hottest" topics in ICT practice and research.
The industrial colloquium is a set of talks and presentations given by different partners from the industry, dealing with cutting edge research in multimedia communications systems. After each presentation, students will have the chance to actively discuss the different topics.
Therefore, the colloquium will be a great opportunity for you gain both thrilling insights into the area of Cloud Computing and meet different practicioners and researchers. This will be very helpful in making a decision on the direction you would like to take in your thesis/research.
More information about last year's industrial colloquium can be found at http://www.dt.tu-darmstadt.de/datentechnik/veranstaltungen/vergangeneveranstaltungen/ic2010_socs.de.jsp
(*) Unfortunately, credit points can only be obtained by Diploma and M.Sc. students of ETiT, MEC, and IST. In case you have your major in Datentechnik (Computer Engineering), the course is mandatory in your curriculum; in all other majors, it is an elective. - For participants from other courses of study, we will issue a certificate in the end of the semester upon successful completion of the course. In some courses of study, you may be able to add the course as an elective on your grade report card; please talk to your responsible student office about the details.
This course is open to the general public without any need for prior registration! Please feel free to join any talk that is of personal interest to you.
Students who would like to obtain credits for this course are required to register at the 1st or 2nd talk, i.e., on April 12th or April 19th.

In any case, please also register for both the course as such and the corresponding exam in TuCaN. This is very important to ensure a proper transmission of the final grades!
While this course does not require any in-depth knowledge of Cloud Computing or related fields, a basic understanding of information and communication technology is recommended!
