Seminars in the Summer Term

Seminar Multimedia Kommunikation I and II

The "Seminar Multimedia Kommunikation" (formerly known as "Seminar Communication Systems and Multimedia") is a seminar for students of Electrical Engineering (and related study programs, such as WI-ET) as well as students of both IST and computer science.

It is focussed on acquiring scientific working skills and applying methodologies, and targets to enable students to understand, transfer, and present complex scientific material. Strong emphasis is hereby put on reading scientific papers and articles, writing a scientific seminar paper, as well as presenting the results..

All further information and the topic areas are available at our seminar page.

Seminar Digital Storytelling

The seminar Digital Storytelling covers different scientific aspects in the broad spectrum of Story-based Edutainment applications, Digital Educational Games and Serious Games.

Concrete examples include, but are not limited to Story Models and Storytelling Systems, Authoring Tools and Environments, Personalization and Adaptation, Collaborative Learning, Seamless Learning Integration and Seamless Assessment, Game Mastering in Multiplayer Games, (Digital Educational) Games and Social Networks, Exergames and Games for Health.

Procedure: At tuesday, April 12th, 11:40 - 13:20, room S3/20, 4 (seminar room, ground floor at Rundeturmstr. 10), the topics are presented and assigned to/elected by the participants of the seminar. Each topic is processed by one student and supervised by one scientist of the Serious Gaming group at TUD/KOM. During the semester, the students acquire knowledge about the topic (by reading scientific papers and analysing existing best-practice solutions/applications) and prepare a state-of-the-art analysis (-> document). Additionally, at the end of the semester, the results are presented to all seminar participants (-> presentation, ~15 minutes).

Requirements: Interest in the topic(s). Since it is a very interdisciplinary field, not only Computer Scientists (INF) and WInf, but also students settled at ETIT, WI-xy, Humanities (Pedagogy, Lehramt, Psychology, Sport Science) and any other faculty are welcome.

Seminar "Selected Topics in P2P Research"

The seminar "Selected Topics in P2P research" is a collaboration seminar among the professors participating in the DFG research group QuaP2P. The following professors are currently hosting the seminar:

The Peer-to-Peer (P2P) paradigm has become popular since 2001 and is responsible for more then 50% of the Internet traffic nowadays. In this seminar we want to focus on interesting topics and current research questions in the area of P2P systems. The seminar is addressed to bachelor and master students of computer science and electrical engineering. The common seminar homepage, containing more detailed information, can be found here: P2P Seminar Home Page.
