Mobile Sensing Lab

The Mobile Sensing Lab (TUCaN-number 18-sm-2170-pr) is a new lab for M.sc. and diploma student of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science which is offered for the first time in the winter term 2011/2012.

Instructor: Prof. Dr. Silvia Santini, Prof. Dr. Ralf Steinmetz

Hours per week: 0 + 4

Event: Tuesday, 13:30 - 16:30

Location: S3/20, Room 005

Course Description

This lab course deals with cutting edge development topics in the area of wireless sensor networks and mobile sensing systems. The course provides a general overview of these systems as well as insights into specific topics. The topics are selected according to the specific working areas of the participating researchers and convey technical and basic scientific competences in one or more of the following fields:

  • Applications of wireless sensor networks and mobile sensing systems
  • Protocols for ad hoc networks / sensor networks
  • Performance evaluation of protocols for wireless sensor networks
  • Infrastructure support for mobile sensing systems
  • Participatory and opportunistic sensing using mobile phones
  • Integration of sensor networks with the Internet and the Web

Requirements

Keen interest to explore cutting-edge research topics. Course attendees are expected to have sound experience in programming Java and/or C/C++ as well as sound knowledge in computer communication networks.
