Recommender systems are very active area of both research and application (well known applications include Amazon or Netflix). This seminar covers novel methods for realization of recommender systems, e.g. machine learning, deep learning, or context-aware methods. In addition the focus is also on novel application areas for recommender systemes like crowdsourcing or educational applications, which demands particular requirements. In theses application areas the requirements differ from the requirements of usual product recommendations.

You have to create your own summary of your preferred topic. The summary should have a length of 2500 to a maximum of 3000 characters (including spaces). In addition to the summary, please include three references to related work in APA format.
Send your summary and references by Monday, April 30, 2018, at 10:00 am by e-mail to email@example.com. Based on the summaries and references, we will decide on admission to the seminar and inform you on Wednesday, May 2.
Participation at all meetings is mandatory. Please note that the meetings take place in building S3|20, room 4 and start at 14:25.
We use our own moodle platform to distribute information and papers and to collect your term papers and presentations. To get an acoount for this moodle platform please sent an E-Mail at Christoph Rensing with the following information: name and surname, student registration number, your E-Mail. We will sent you the access information. You can access the moodle coruse at moodle.docendo.org/course/view.php
For the presentations, we will use only one laptop provided by us. Therefore, the corresponding slides have to be uploaded in moodle to the announced date. In order to avoid compatibility issues, all presentations have to be in PDF or PPT format. The presentation shall be 15 minutes long. After the presentation, there will be 10 minutes for discussion with the audience. Be aware, that you performance during the discussion is a part of the overall grade.
The final paper should have 5 pages for Multimedia Communications Seminar I and 8 pages for Multimedia Communications Seminar II (including bibliography). If the provided space is insufficient, you are allowed to use up to one additional page for the bibliography. Your term paper will be reviewed by your fellow students and your supervisor. The first and the final version of your complete term paper and the reviews have to be uploaded in moodle till the announced date.

Important: Missing any of this achievements will lead to a failing grade. Submissions not meeting the deadlines will not be accepted and thus lead to a failing grade as well.
