Rhaban Hark received the master’s degree in electrical engineering and the master's degree in information system technology both in 2015 at the Technical University of Darmstadt with the thesis "Dynamic and Transparently Discoverable Software-Defined Multicast in ISP Environments". He is currently pursuing the Ph.D. degree with the Multimedia Communications Engineering Lab, Technical University of Darmstadt, where he has been a Research Assistant since 2015. His current research focuses on distributed monitoring approaches in the context of software-defined networks.

Research Interests

  • Collaborative monitoring in federated Software-defined Networks (SDNs)

    • Information sharing on the control plane (inter- & intra-domain)
    • Development of monitoring layers to unburden control planes and optimize measurement tasks
    • Intelligent and dynamic selection of measurement techniques & points


SENDATE-PLANETS TITAN (SEcure Networking for a DATa Center Cloud in Europe)

Rhaban Hark is working within the SENDATE-PLANETS project funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. He is part of the TITAN subproject with its focus on distributed and flexible network status detection.

MAKI (Multi-Mechanismen Adaption für das zukünftige Internet)

Rhaban Hark is associated with the Collaborative Research Center 1053 - MAKI funded by the DFG and works towards transitions between monitoring mechanisms in the context of Software-defined Networking.
