Knowledge & Educational Technologies – Overview

In the research area Knowledge & Educational Technologies our goal is to advance research and applications for education of and knowledge acquisition by humans. We look at formal education as well as at informal education or, more generally, personal and collaborative knowledge acquisition. In the latter field a transition to knowledge management is given.

The Web offers today numerous types of content, information and services and it becomes an additional place for peoples to interact. Therefore the Web is also used as resource for knowledge acquisition and informal learning and web applications are used as knowledge and educational technology. To support the users in the Web as environment we use text and web mining, machine learning, semantic description, recommender systems and other information technologies that support the acquisition, management, and use of knowledge from Web artefacts.

Our experiences in usage of such knowledge technologies for analysis of artefacts form the Web we transfer in other application areas as well.
