Short Bio

Sounak Kar obtained his bachelor's and master's degree in Statistics from the Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata, in 2010. Thereafter, he worked as a Quantitative Finance professional in Mumbai, India. Sounak spent his time in the industry particularly focusing on applications of Probability Theory and Statistical Learning with various Risk Methodology functions. Since April 2017, he has been working as a Scientific Staff at Multimedia Communications Lab, TU Darmstadt. He is primarily associated with project B4 of the collaborative research center MAKI.

Research Interests

  • Application of Probability Theory to networks, in particular Queuing Theory.
  • Statistical Learning.
