Ralf obtained his Ph.D. from the Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany, in 2022 with the thesis "Accelerating Network Functions using Reconfigurable Hardware." Before, he obtained two B.Sc. and an M.Sc. degree from the same university in 2015 (B.Sc. Informationssystemtechnik) and 2017 (B.Sc. Business Informatics, M.Sc. Informationssystemtechnik), respectively. Since 2021 he is heading the Adaptive Communication Group (ACS) with a focus on network programmability of the data plane. In his research, he focuses on Quality of Service (QoS)-aware network functions offloaded on programmable hardware such as P4-programmable switches and FPGAs. He works with Deutsche Telekom in joined projects opening up network hardware to improve the future Internet. Further, he is interested in data plane programming for Time Sensitive Networking (TSN) and Network Intrusion Detection Systems (NIDS). He authored and co-authored more than 25 peer-reviewed scientific publications and five patent applications.
