Abstract: Today's peer-to-peer applications benefit from the fact that many users offer their resources. Those resources are mainly connected via low-bandwidth, asymmetric access networks that make it hard to realize the streaming of video data. By making use of hierarchically encoded video and the fact that single layers can be streamed from different senders streaming in peer-to-peer applications can also be performed in such networks.
